Welcome to Syrian Civil War Map! This website contains a live and interactive map of the Syrian Civil War and Iraqi War. We are dedicated to delivering the latest news as well as the most accurate and unbiased information about the Syrian and Iraqi conflict. Unlike other websites we are not using online and public sources. We are in contact with many people living in Syria and Iraq. These people provide information about the current circumstances in the conflict areas.

More than 500000 people already died in the civil war in Syria which is ongoing for more than seven years. More than 12 million people were expelled from their homes because of the battles between various factions. Part of the reason why the conflict in Syria is so complicated is because of the huge diversity of ethnic and religious groups living there. The rivalries and tensions between these groups play an important role in the war. The protests in Syria, which started as a part of the big wave of “Arab Spring” protests, turned into a armed conflict with the government after protestors demanded the removal of President Bashar al-Assad. The armed conflict then turned into a proxy war between various countries seeking for power in the middle east. The current fighting faction are: The Syrian Government with its allies (including Russia, Hezbollah and Iran), Sunni Arab rebel groups, Jihadist rebel groups, the Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) and the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS).

Syrian Civil War:

Syrian Democratic Forces: Usually shortened as SDF or QSD, are an alliance of Kurdish, Arab, Turkmen, Assyrian and Armenian militias mainly fighting against ISIS, Al-Nusra Front and other Jihadist groups in the Syrian Civil War. The goal of the group is to establish and protect the federal region “Rojava – Northern Syria”.

Anti-Government Forces: Hundreds of groups fighting the government of Bashar al-Assad. The main groups are the moderate FSA and jihadist groups like Al-Nusra (Hayat Tahrir al–Sham) and Ahrar al-Sham.

Government Forces: Forces fighting for the government of Bashar al-Assad. These forces contain the regular Syrian Arab Army, National Defense Forces and Iran-backed Shia militias like the Hezbollah.

Islamic State of Iraq and Syria: The “Islamic State of Iraq and Syria” is a jihadist group which controls huge swathes of land in western Iraq and the Syrian Arab Republic. They consider themselves as the “Islamic Caliphate”.
